* Hampton, 17 Aug: Fourth complaint
(S089) Fourth complaint of noise at an upper-floor flat on Hampton Road, between Waverley and Kenilworth Roads, this time on the night of 17/18 August 2020. A resident wrote a complaint email to both universities at about 11-30pm on the 17th, citing a party close to her flat. I visited the area twice between 12-30am and 1-30am and noted loud music and loud voices from a top-floor flat. (S087) Complaint of noise at a flat in Park Mansions, Meridian Place, Clifton, on several occasions since 1 July 2020, most recently on night of 14/15 August. Resident has submitted noise diary to council listing several instances during July of loud music being played as late as 3am. Dear Mayor, please take a look at UoB plans to reopen campus
COMMENT: The way in which students have defied university warnings and carried on partying could have implications for plans to reopen campuses in October. If students will not comply with public appeals from university bosses to observe coronavirus guidelines, how can the University of Bristol assure students, staff and the wider community that reopening will be safe? (S083) Party involving adjacent properties on the south side of Ravenswood Road, near junction with Woodstock Avenue, on 8/9 August 2020. A resident who lives in Trelawney Road, backing on to Ravenswood, said in email to UoB: "The music, noise and flashing lights kept us awake until 03:00 hours on Sunday morning." * Hampton, 9 Aug: Daytime noise
(S082) Complaint of daytime noise at a property on Hampton Road, between Abbotsford and Aberdeen Roads, that has already attracted multiple complaints. Resident told UoB: "While the students have gotten better at night-time disturbances (though there is still the odd day where students return to the house in the early hours of the morning and decide to put music on) the day-time noise hasn’t improved.
