* Lansdown, 12 Mar: Fifth complaint
(21103) Four residents have complained about noise from a late-night party at a student property in Lansdown Road on the night of Friday/Saturday, 11/12 March 2022. This is the fifth time this academic year that the property has attracted complaints.
Resident1 wrote to UoB: "I am writing to complain about a very noisy party last night March 11th at [xx] Lansdown Road ... which kept me and other residents awake till the small hours. We understand that young people want to enjoy themselves and if they keep indoors and keep windows and doors closed the sound is reasonably muted. The trouble is the street noise, caused by people shouting and screaming as they come and go repeatedly or stand on the doorstep ...
"I called Operation Beech who reportedly came round but with little effect."
Resident2 wrote that the party "started late on Friday night and went on continuously until almost 5.00am the following morning. There were multiple groups arriving and leaving throughout that time, shouting and talking loudly, making sleep impossible. Worse, groups of students gathered outside and talked loudly and incessantly. Overlaying all this was a continuous thumping bass. Even resorting to earplugs made little difference.
"Operation Beech was contacted, but ... when the patrol arrived the music was quickly turned down and students in the street dispersed. This meant Operation Beech officers had little to witness or report, but as a resident I can confirm that as soon as the patrol left the noise and disturbance resumed ..."
Resident3 said: "Last night (11/03/22) there were extremely loud noises in our street focused on [xx] Lansdown Road. This started at about 11.30 pm and continued repeatedly until 4.30 the next morning. The people (up to 15 at a time) were entering and leaving number [xx] slamming the door, shouting and screaming and banging repeatedly on the door.
"My family was unable to sleep through this and [it] is ruining our quality of life. This antisocial behaviour has to stop. This is not the first time this house has been the prime cause of disruption of peace on our road. Please can you help us in removing this major nuisance."
Resident4 commented: "I contacted Operation Beech just before midnight and received a reply from them within minutes to say they would attend the property. I don't know if they did but it was extremely noisy at the back of the house onto Brighton Road."
