Plan for 131 student beds in Cotham Hill faces obstacles

Residents have signalled opposition to plans to convert the former St Joseph’s Care Home in Cotham Hill into 131 studio flats for students.

Developer Harringay Real Estate has set up a website to seek public opinion on the proposal, as a step towards submitting a planning application in April or May. The website can be viewed here. People have until 25 March 2026 to submit views via the site’s feedback page.

If and when a planning application is submitted, it may struggle to gain approval under Bristol’s rules on student accommodation. Click these links for more:
