* Mortimer, 4 Jul: 'Children exhausted, upset'
(21007) Residents' association complains of "serious disruption to sleep" from a student party in Mortimer Road, Clifton, in the early hours of 4 July 2021.
The lead resident for Grange & Mortimer Roads Residents Association wrote to UoB quoting several neighbours as well as his own experience:
From next-door neighbours:
"It's 03:30 and the party is in full swing -- shouting, music. Someone is currently sat on the front wall of my property shouting obscenities. My whole household is awake. The children are exhausted and upset ...We have now called the police."
"At approx 23:30 I noticed significant noise coming from the garden/garden flat of No. [xx]. It was loud enough to be heard through closed windows. ... I was only able to sleep at approx 1 am using earplugs and the window still shut."
From a neighbour up and across the road:
"We heard noise at 1:30 when we returned after a (very late for us) evening with friends. It was really bad ..."
From a neighbour in Lansdown Road (Clifton):
"Very noisy party in the garden, around 2 to around 4 am at worst, times not precise. I saw one person climb up the scaffolding. I think it was a house leaving party. I had to move out of my bedroom to the front room."
"I also heard very loud noise coming from the direction of the back garden at [xx] Mortimer, from 2am onwards. It was extraordinarily loud. Indeed so bad that, what with the disturbances at [x] and [x] Grange Road [see incident reports for same night], I gave up and moved to sleep on our lounge sofa ..."
Residents previously complained about the Mortimer Road address on 14 and 23 June. However, different occupants may have been involved in this latest incident. The lead resident says "It's not clear whether the culprits were 'last-flingers' or those who had just moved in."
