* Hampton, 25 Aug: 'List of 11 noise incidents'

(21039) Two residents have complained to UoB about noise from a student property on the east side of Hampton Road on the night of 25 August, with further disturbance in the early hours of 26 August, 2021. One resident has compiled a list of 11 incidents at the property.

Resident1 reported to UoB: "I had the need to contact Operation Beech tonight in relation to [xx] Hampton Road and a disco they’re having with bass music being heard from my property opposite. As I was waiting for [the police], a neighbour from the property behind theirs on Ravenswood [Road] has gone to their door and given them a right telling off. A number of drunken students emerged onto their first-floor balcony."

His email enclosed a video of people leaving the property and joining others who were standing in the road, some in danger of blocking traffic, before walking away from the scene.

Resident2, who also lives across the road from the property, contacted UoB two days later with a more extensive report covering not just the night's events but also noise disturbances from the property on other dates. [This person is not the Ravenswood Road resident mentioned above.]

He said: "I am emailing to complain about repeated noise disturbances coming from the top-floor flat, [xx] Hampton Road. Please find attached a noise diary detailing 11 separate disturbances since the new students moved in. ... We are currently having to sleep with our window closed due to the noise issues on the road from students. ... I have spoken to people living at this property and explained they are disturbing us on more than one occasion."

His noise diary records that on the night of the 25th a group was "gathered on the balcony talking and laughing loudly. Shouting as getting in taxis at 11.30pm."

Later that night, at around 4-30am, he says he was woken by people again gathered on the balcony and went out to complain to them. After some exchanges, they apologised and moved inside.

His record of earlier events starts on 12 July and says that in four out of five consecutive nights he and his partner were woken repeatedly in the early hours by "loud music, shouting, and laughing" involving people at the property. He also notes disturbances on other dates in July and August. His records mention at least five occasions when he spoke to the students, not counting the latest incident.
