* Cotham Vale, 29 Aug: 'Beech police alerted'

(21041) Two residents have complained about noise disturbance at a property in Cotham Vale in the early hours of 29 August 2021.

Resident1 wrote to UoB and the landlord: "The student residents at [xx] Cotham Vale had a party last night, which ramped up shortly after 12.30 a.m. when it spilled unto the back garden. This woke our household as well as others’ on this and neighbouring streets. Despite my going to talk to them at their front door (which was open, allowing the noise to pour through the front as well), and their generally apparent remorse for having made a disturbance, the noise continued at the back for at least another half hour while the hostesses attempted to control their guests.

"What is particularly galling is that on 20th August both a neighbour (who was also disturbed last night) and I had written to this household following noise at 3.15 a.m., so there was no reason for them to think it would be okay the second time ...

"The student community on Cotham Vale has exceeded ten disturbances since the beginning of July. Either they are not being properly instructed (via the tenancy agreements and university rules) or the expectations regarding their behaviour are not being enforced."

Resident2 said: "In a haze after 1:15am last night I sent this email [referring to an attached email to the landlord], having begged the group of about 15 student-aged people to go inside, with some protest from them. I then called [Operation] Beech who responded with good effect."
