* Arley Hill, 17 Jun: 'Seven hours of noise'
(21111) Complaint about daytime noise from the garden of a student house in Arley Hill, Cotham, on Friday, 17 June 2022.
The complainant contacted both UoB and UWE, as well as the landlord.
In an email, he says there was "very loud music coming from the garden" from approximately 2pm. This came from "a sound system with two loudspeakers positioned some eight meters away from where the group was sitting". The noise was "so loud that it resounded throughout our house and garden, ricocheting off our back garden wall, so that we had to stay indoors despite the very hot weather, shutting all our windows and doors against the noise, which still penetrated into all our rooms."
The complainant says the tenants refused a request that the sound be turned down. "The music intensified over the next seven hours. The number of people in the garden, tenants and guests, rose to over twenty, adding to the noise."
Operation Beech, which operates from 8pm, was contacted and attended the property.
"At approximately 9pm the music stopped and the garden ... emptied."
