Plan for 131 student beds in Cotham Hill faces criticism and possible obstacle

Residents have signalled opposition to plans to convert the former St Joseph’s Care Home in Cotham Hill into 131 studio flats for students. Developer Harringay Real Estate has set up a website to seek public opinion, as a step towards a future planning application. People have until 25 March 2026 to submit views. If a planning application is submitted, it may struggle to gain approval under Bristol’s rules on student accommodation. See the articles below for more.
