* Whiteladies, Aug: Multiple incidents

(S091) Digest of multiple noise complaints relating to four student-occupied HMOs on Whiteladies Road, north of Chantry Road, on various dates through August 2020.

The HMOs house about 40 students in converted accommodation situated over shops.

Resident says: "This summer has been unprecedented for the number of students who have remained in Bristol and the trouble they are causing, particularly their disregard for coronavirus regulations and policies ... I thought you might be interested to read some of the emails I have been compelled to send to the letting agents and the University concerning student parties and other noise disturbance. These are attached. I have only included the messages sent in August, but we have experienced noise disturbances since the end of May."

The resident provides details of several noise events, and says that during efforts to talk to the students concerned he and his wife were abused and sworn at.

He has circulated his complaints to UoB, the letting agents for the properties and the police. He also says that one of the parties referred to occurred only hours after a UoB staff member had visited the property to remind students of their responsibilities.

Referring to a party on the night of 29/30 August 2020, he notes: "This party kicked off with very loud music at about 10:30 pm last night. The music became progressively louder reaching totally unacceptable levels between 02:00 and 02:30am. It became much quieter at about 03:00am when four students left the property, but music was still being played at 05:00."

Reported to UoB: yes

Raised with landlord / property agents: yes
