Northampton uni pays for 6 police

October 5, 2018

Northampton University is to pay almost £775,000 for six police officers to patrol its new Waterside campus for three academic years, according to a BBC report. The aim is to improve security for students—no mention of whether the police might also be clamping down on things like student parties. A university spokesman is quoted as saying: "Rather than allow the taxpayer to bear the brunt of cost and limited resources, the university made a commitment to fund a team which would add to the police presence in the town rather than stretch it further." Bristol universities, please note.
